Benjamin Slobodien, PGA

TPI Certified Teaching Professional

Ben Slobodien created Slobo Golf Academy to share his love of the game with everyone that wants to learn. He is a graduate of UNLV and gained his PGA Class “A” membership from their Professional Golf Association Program in 2015. After internships around the country, he joined Rancho San Joaquin as the First Assistant. Here, he taught thousands of lessons to players of all ages and abilities. Ben has also coached the Woodbridge High School Boys and Girls Golf since 2015.

Ben’s passion to teach others golf comes from his own experiences with golf instruction as a junior and college player. He has attended numerous national and local PGA Teaching seminars and has studied under the tutelage of Golf Practice owner and co-author of the PGA Teaching Manual, Peter Donahue and PGA Pro, author of “Play Real Golf” and radio host Tracey Roberts. He also studied under Chris Oehlerking who has been under the tutelage of Hank Haney for eight years. Ben has coached players that have won tournaments at the Junior, College and Amateur level.

Ben takes time to understand how his players learn so he can present lessons in a manner clients internalize and repeat. He is patient and has a great eye for correcting the golf swing, these traits help make sure each student reaches their full potential.

Ben Slobodien has over 10 years of teaching experience with a clientele ranging from the beginners to competitive tournament players. He has a deep understanding of the golf swing and has the ability to communicate the understanding of the swing to all golfers so they can be students of the game.

He believes in a teaching style that is adaptive to the student in front of him because every student is not the same. There is not one way to swing the golf club. Each student needs an individualized plan and foundation based on their goals. Ben and his clients begin this plan on the first day of instruction. He also believes in the foundation of the fundamentals of PGA which is Posture, Grip and Alignment. Ben’s goal is to grow the game of golf though hard work, knowledge and fun; the ultimate goal is to teach students to self correct and achieve the goals that were set day one. Ben has been a member of the Southern California Section of the PGA of America since 2015.
